The last major Ontario pension reform took place over 20 years ago. A great deal has transpired since then and pension regulation has not kept pace. In the last several years, many Canadian jurisdictions established Commissions and processes to review the current system and make recommendations for change. In addition, the federal, provincial and territorial finance ministers have been considering and consulting on Canada's retirement income system. The following is a summary of OMERS participation and submissions in this process.
